docs · getting started
Kaeru is built so the first five minutes are calm. Here is the whole path, from opening the app to backing up your work — no terminal, no git, no jargon.
There's no setup step. Kaeru's own AI is built in — free, no account, nothing to install — so it can answer from the first launch. If you'd rather use your own, sign in with Claude to spend your subscription, or connect OpenRouter or Ollama in Settings.
Open a project you already have, or start something new. Kaeru quietly sets up version control in the background, so your work is tracked from the first save.
Tell the AI agent what you want in plain words. It reads, writes, and edits files for you, and shows every change before you keep it — nothing happens behind your back.
Kaeru previews your site right beside the conversation. Turn on Design Mode, click the thing that looks wrong, and say what should change about it — you don't have to describe where it is or know what it's called.
One click saves a version and backs it up online. That's a commit and a push underneath, but you never touch git or type a command.
Set work aside to experiment, undo safely to any earlier version, and review changes in plain language. Need a fresh line of work? Type “My login page” and Kaeru names the branch for you. Nothing you make is ever truly lost.
Something not working, or missing from this page? Tell us in a sentence — no technical language needed.
